El circo y el teatro se unen para dar otra vuelta de tuerca al evocador poema sinfónico de Strauss (1897), con una nueva visión sobre Quijote que superpone historias y personajes, sonidos, melodías, destreza y movimiento.
El gran concierto está a punto de comenzar, pero el atrilero encargado de que todo esté preparado está intranquilo. Un grupo de extraños seres quijotescos se apropian de la escena y una persona termina transformándose en Quijote. Comienza una aventura que es pura ensoñación y fantasía, en la que los molinos son hula hops, los quijotes se multiplican, la música se hace acrobacia, la realidad se distorsiona y nada es lo que parece. El espíritu de Quijote está muy vivo y hasta consigue seducir a un improbable Sancho para que lo acompañe en su travesía.
