Fundado en 1897 por Gaspar Vargas, el Mariachi Vargas ha marcado la historia del género durante más de 125 años. Su virtuosismo musical, perfección técnica e inigualable capacidad para transmitir emociones lo han llevado a representar a México en los escenarios más prestigiosos del mundo, desde el Carnegie Hall de Nueva York hasta la Ópera de París.
El legado del Mariachi Vargas no solo se encuentra en su impecable ejecución, sino también en su innovación. Bajo la dirección del maestro Rubén Fuentes, el Vargas sofisticó sus arreglos y se convirtió en una expresión musical tan rica como poderosa. Su vínculo con el cine mexicano, junto a leyendas como Pedro Infante y Jorge Negrete, llevó sus sones y rancheras más allá de las fronteras de su país, consolidándolo como el referente absoluto del género. Hoy, el Mariachi Vargas sigue siendo el corazón de lo que significa la palabra Mariachi, capaz de emocionar tanto con un son jalisciense como con una pieza clásica o un popurrí popular.
El legendario Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, estandarte de la tradición musical mexicana, compartirá escenario con la prestigiosa Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, en el escenario del Teatro Colsubsidio.
